New Construction Painting
New plaster is alkaline, and alkalinity is what pushes paint off a wall months later. The first paint system on a new building is a curing and primer decision before it is a colour decision.

Where it is used
New houses, villas, apartments, offices and commercial buildings.
The first coat on a new building has one job the later ones do not: it has to survive the wall it is going onto. Fresh cement plaster is strongly alkaline and holds construction moisture for weeks, and both of those attack a paint film from underneath.
This is why a new house sometimes peels within a year while an old house repainted the same month holds fine. The paint was not the problem. It went on a wall that had not finished curing, or over a standard primer where an alkali-resistant one was required.
Which Royaltec system goes on a newly plastered wall?
The build-up is Royaltec Wall Putty for levelling, then primer, then two finish coats. The primer is the decision that matters. Acrylic Multi-Purpose Cement Primer is the standard base once the plaster has cured properly. Alkali Block Primer replaces it where the plaster is young or shows white efflorescence, because a premium topcoat over an untreated alkaline wall still fails.
For the finish, Acrylic Economic Emulsion covers bedrooms and low-traffic rooms, and Signature Acrylic Emulsion earns its price in kitchens, passages and children’s rooms where the silicone fortification takes wiping and resists fungus. Because we manufacture the putty, the primer and the emulsion, the coats are a matched system rather than three brands that happened to be on site.
Builders and contractors get the same inspection. Block-level quotes state putty extent per flat, primer type by wall condition and the touch-up allowance after handover, so the figure does not move once work starts.
We work on new projects across Madurai and the surrounding growth corridors.

What’s included
Plaster checked for dryness
Painting a wall that is still releasing moisture is the most expensive shortcut on site.
Primer chosen for young walls
Fresh cement stays alkaline for weeks, and the primer has to account for that.
Sequenced with other trades
Electrical, plumbing, flooring and carpentry decide when painting can actually start.
Snagging built into handover
Final touch-ups after other trades finish are planned, not argued about later.
Bare plaster to a finished interior
The same new room before its first paint system and after putty, primer and finish coats.

Which primer does a new wall need?
Plaster age and visible salting decide this. It is the single choice that most affects how long the first paint system lasts.
| Cured plaster | Young plaster | Efflorescence visible | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you see | Dry, stable, no bloom | Recently plastered, still curing | White powdery deposit on the surface |
| Primer | Acrylic Multi-Purpose Cement Primer | Alkali Block Primer | Alkali Block Primer |
| Before priming | Level and clean down | Allow further curing time | Remove deposit and find the moisture source |
| Risk if skipped | Low | Peeling and patchy sheen later | Coating lifted off by salt movement |
The site visit records plaster condition per wall rather than applying one primer everywhere.
Painting is not the trade that decides the date
After the wet trades
Plastering and any civil correction finish first, then the wall is given time to cure.
Around electrical and plumbing
Chasing and fixing are completed before putty, so walls are not reopened afterwards.
Before or after flooring
The order is agreed upfront, because it changes masking, access and damage risk.
Touch-ups at the end
Carpentry and fitting always mark walls. A final snagging coat is allowed for in the scope.
The products this service uses
Putty, primer and emulsion come from the same factory, so the first system on your new wall is matched by design.
FAQ
Cement plaster needs weeks, not days, and the exact period depends on thickness, weather and how well the wall was cured. Rather than quoting a fixed number, we check the wall at the site visit and say plainly whether it is ready or whether the primer needs to change.
That is efflorescence: salts carried to the surface as construction moisture leaves the wall. It has to be removed and the wall primed with Alkali Block Primer. Painting straight over it pushes the new coat off within months.
It depends on how level the plaster is and what finish you want. Good plaster with a matte finish may need only spot correction. A smooth, higher-sheen finish shows every undulation, so it needs fuller levelling. The measured extent goes in the quote.
Typically putty where required, one primer coat and two finish coats. Deep or strong shades over bare primer sometimes need a third. The planned count is written into the quote before work starts, not decided on site.
Either works if it is planned. Painting first means protecting finished walls during flooring. Flooring first means heavier masking and a careful final touch-up. We agree the order at the site visit so masking and damage responsibility are clear.
Yes. Project quotes state putty extent per flat, primer selection by wall condition, coat counts and the post-handover touch-up allowance, so the same rate is not applied blindly to walls in different condition.
