Royaltec Paints

Metal Painting Services

Rust does not stop because you painted over it. Metal work is won at the preparation stage, then held by an anti-corrosive primer under a compatible enamel.

Where it is used

Gates, grills, railings, steel structures and shutters.

The failure mode on metal is always the same. Someone paints a gate that has light surface rust, it looks correct for a season, and then rust blooms back through the new enamel. Nothing was wrong with the paint. The corrosion was sealed in rather than removed.

So the work is graded by how far the rust has gone. Light surface bloom needs cleaning back and spot priming. Scaling rust that flakes away in layers has to be taken to sound metal across the affected area. Where steel is perforated or a weld has failed, coating is the wrong answer entirely and a fabricator has to go first.

Which Royaltec system goes on iron and steel?

Two layers, and both are ours. Royaltec Red Oxide Metal Primer is the anti-corrosive undercoat for prepared iron and steel. It is designed to protect against rust and corrosion and to improve the adhesion and longevity of the topcoat above it, and it is not intended to be left as the finish.

Over that, Royaltec Japan Black Enamel gives a traditional gloss-black film that grips well and resists moisture, abrasion and mild chemicals. It suits gates, grills and railings, and it is equally at home on machinery, tools, metal furniture and restoration work. Japan Black is intrinsically black, so where you want another colour the appropriate compatible enamel is named in the quote instead.

Thinning is specified rather than improvised. Royaltec Enamel Thinner is the match for oil-based enamels and synthetic primers, and Royaltec NC Thinner is for nitrocellulose products. Using an incompatible solvent affects application and the cured film, which on an exposed gate is the difference between a finish that holds and one that dulls early.

Gates, grills and shutters are coated across Madurai.

The same preparation standard applies in Coimbatore.

What’s included

Rust removed, not covered

Corrosion is taken back to sound metal, because enamel over rust keeps corroding underneath.

Anti-corrosive primer first

Royaltec Red Oxide goes on prepared iron and steel as the undercoat, never as the final coat.

Enamel matched to its thinner

Topcoat and solvent are specified as a pair so the film flows and cures as intended.

Fabrication kept separate

Perforated steel, failed welds and bent members need a fabricator before any coating.

How far has the rust actually gone?

This grading sets the preparation, and preparation is the majority of the labour on any metal job.

How the coating is built

Two coats only work if the metal under them is clean

1. Strip and de-rust

Loose paint, rust, grease and old failed coating are removed to the recorded extent.

2. De-grease and dry

Oil and moisture are removed, because primer will not bond through either.

3. Red oxide primer

The anti-corrosive undercoat goes on prepared metal, including edges and rebates.

4. Enamel topcoat

Finish coats are applied with the compatible thinner and left to cure before use.
